The 2025 China Trade Academy, hosted by the Daejeon University-Industry Council and Hanbat National University in Korea as part of the RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) program, invited David Lee, CEO of VM Consulting, to deliver a lecture on August 20 titled “How to Leverage Exhibitions for Entering the Chinese Market.”
This program, designed to strengthen the practical capabilities of Korean companies seeking to expand into China, focused on brand building, marketing, and partnership development. Drawing on years of consulting experience at global exhibitions such as CES, IFA, and ADIPEC, Lee will share strategies and best practices tailored to the Chinese exhibition environment.
The lecture covers:
Characteristics of major Chinese exhibitions and market-specific approaches
Targeting buyers and pre-event promotion strategies
Effective booth management and on-site business meeting tactics
Post-event follow-up and building long-term partnerships with local stakeholders
Lee emphasized that, “Unlike in other markets, China restricts access to global online platforms such as Google and LinkedIn. Therefore, it is essential to integrate exhibition marketing with local digital channels such as Baidu, WeChat, and Maimai to succeed in the Chinese market.” He added, “Through this lecture, I hope participants gain a deeper understanding of these unique conditions and leverage exhibitions as a strategic channel to achieve tangible results in China.”
The China Trade Academy runs from August to September with a total of eight sessions, providing Korean companies with essential knowledge on topics such as trade environment changes, consumer trends, digital marketing, and legal and tax considerations for entering the Chinese market.
